      What is Inspiration?

A Reward for Time Spent Writing

      Don't Wait

In the realm of writing, inspiration is often seen as a fleeting, elusive muse that descends upon us at its whims. However, I've discovered a more reliable and consistent source of inspiration: the simple act of dedicating time to write. Let's explore why putting in the time is the real key to unlocking a steady stream of inspiration.

Inspiration follows Action, not the other way around.

      The Myth of Spontaneous Inspiration

There's a common belief that inspiration strikes out of the blue – a sudden, magical spark that ignites creativity. While these moments do happen, relying solely on spontaneous inspiration is like waiting for rain in a desert. The truth is, inspiration often emerges not from waiting passively but from engaging actively with our craft.

      The Time for Ideas

The more time we invest in writing, the more we open ourselves to inspiration. It's like tending a garden – the consistent effort of watering, weeding, and nurturing leads to a bountiful harvest. Similarly, the regular practice of writing cultivates a rich soil from which ideas can grow. It’s in the midst of writing that characters start to whisper their secrets, plots begin to twist unexpectedly, and themes reveal their depths.

Building a Relationship with Your Craft

Think of writing as building a relationship. Just as relationships thrive on time and effort, so does your connection with your writing. Regular writing sessions create a space for ideas to flow and for inspiration to find a home. It's in this dedicated time that we get to know our story, understand its nuances, and uncover its hidden treasures.

Inspiration comes from putting in the time. The more time I put into writing the more inspiration just comes to me.

      Embrace the Discipline of Writing

Embrace the discipline of writing as a path to inspiration. It's not about waiting for the perfect moment but about creating it through consistent effort. As you commit time to your writing, either alone or with help, you'll find that inspiration becomes a familiar companion on your creative journey, not a rare visitor. So, set aside time for your writing, and watch as inspiration joins you, eager to explore the worlds you create together.
